NYEF is a country partner for the five week long Professional Exchange Program being organized by the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma and the U.S. Department of State. This program, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Professional Fellows Program, will inject Nepali mid-level emerging leaders in entrepreneurial development, small and family-owned businesses and business education into working small businesses in Oklahoma and associate them with one of America’s leading universities. The program aims to provide professional experience and training that will nurture participants’ talent and prepare them for more responsible leadership positions in their businesses, their communities and society in general as they return. In addition, the program will provide U.S.-based small business people and educators an opportunity to collaborate with their Nepali counterparts as they participate in a two-week exchange to Kathmandu in June 2014 and January 2015.

The GSEA (Global Student Entrepreneur Awards) is the premier global competition for students who own and operate businesses while attending high school, college or university.

With the mission to inspire students to adopt entrepreneurial endeavors, GSEA brings global visibility to undergraduate business owners whose companies are innovative, profitable, socially responsible and adhere to high ethical standards. Nominees compete against their peers from around the world. Founded in 1998 by Saint Louis University, the GSEA is now an Entrepreneurs’ Organization program. GSEA Nepal is organized by EO Nepal and NYEF.

Nepal Youth Business Foundation (NYBF) is inspired and modeled after the Prince of Wales Youth Business International (YBI) in UK. With a vision to address the critical issue of youth unemployment, NYEF with support of FNCCI initiated this program. NYBF is committed to promote entrepreneurship development among under privileged and disadvantaged youth by developing their business ideas into viable enterprises under the guidance of a mentor. NYBF’s uniqueness has been its integral element of mentoring, which has fostered bonds beyond business between the youngsters and their mentors. NYBF has provided collateral free loans to over 60 financially disadvantaged individuals.

Young Entrepreneurs with Young Politicians - Policy Dialogue is a regular event where young entrepreneurs and young politicians come together to discuss on various business related issues. The aim of this initiative is to work towards creating a positive business environment and to build synergistic network among young entrepreneurs and young politicians. In this way the politicians will be able to relate with the issues of the entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurs will also be able to air their voice in policy matters.

The Knowledge Series program aims to achieve shared intelligence, improved performance, competitive advantage and higher levels of innovation through monthly workshops in the form of series of lectures and interactive sessions. These sessions are designed to enhance participants understanding and knowledge through experience and information sharing.

NYEF jointly organized, Pivot Nepal a mobile app competition with Mobile Social Networking Nepal. Pivot Nepal was an initiative to bring out entrepreneurial spirit within mobile application developer community in Nepal. It was a platform for mobile app developers and other mobile enthusiasts to bring forward their creative and innovative mobile app ideas, products and prototypes showing the potential to stand out as a sustainable business in itself. The primary objective of Pivot Nepal was to create enabling environment for developers and entrepreneurs to develop and commercialize mobile apps in Nepalese as well as international market.

A total of 116 business ideas were submitted for the competition, out of which 18 finalists were selected to go through further mentorship and coaching to develop the idea into a minimum viable product. The three category winners and the overall winner were announced in a grand finale on April 26, 2013.

The “Global Entrepreneurs Week” was celebrated worldwide from 12th to 18th November 2012. Due to the festival season in Nepal, NYEF celebrated the week long occasion from 22nd to 29th November 2012. As a part of the celebration, NYEF conducted inspirational story sharing sessions among college students. The main aim behind this was to encourage and motivate students to become entrepreneurs. The sessions were held in 14 colleges reaching over a thousand students. Ten renowned entrepreneurs conducted the sessions. There was an overwhelming positive feedback from majority of the colleges and students. The colleges also showed interest to organize such events in the future.

After the devastating earthquake in April, 2015, NYEF members and the organizations in NYEF’s network came together to help rebuild Nallu village through a project named Nallu Project. In the livelihood front, NYEF team helped to setup an irrigation system for the farmers. In the education front, the first teacher training session was successfully conducted and now the team is planning for a follow-up teachers training session and a workshop for students. NYEF also bought books, stationery, sports equipment and more for the schools and contributed books and other materials.
