Made in Nepal is one of the key initiatives of NYEF. The Made in Nepal concept was officially launched on July 11, 2006 at the Hotel Annapurna. This concept is not just another campaign but a movement in making. A movement which comes with a noble thought that every Nepalese citizen should contribute towards the country's ailing economy by promoting Nepalese industries.
This campaign aims to bring about behavioral change among the Nepalese consumer to start consuming Nepali products and services. The motive behind the campaign is to motivate people to use the products made in Nepal, to create awareness and give value to the Nepal made products. The other aspect of the initiative is to improve the quality of products and services made in Nepal.
The major part of the campaign is the mega event – a Made in Nepal exhibition where various types of Nepali products are showcased all under the same roof. The first Made in Nepal Expo 2006 was held from September 5 – 10, 2006 at the Bhrikuti Mandap Hall, Kathmandu. The expo was a great success. Second Made in Nepal expo was held in 2008 and the third Made in Nepal exhibition was held on September 6 – 9, 2012 at the Bhrikuti Mandap Hall. This edition of Made in Nepal was inaugurated by the Prime Minister and Finance Minister and concluded by the Industry Minister. The President also personally visited the expo. The fourth edition of Made in Nepal exhibition was also concluded successfully on February 14-17, 2014. Efforts are being made to organize a made in Nepal exhibition in different locations, within and outside Nepal. The Made in Nepal Initiative had a role to play in the recent decision of the government to provide priority to purchase made in Nepal Products and Services.
